Throughout the course, you have been introduced to the traditions of the world’s great religions: Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism. Define which theological and ethical beliefs are fundamentally similar between them and which are distinctly different. Is it possible to conclude that there is a universal or “natural system of right and wrong expressed in these traditions? Compare Plato’s philosophical proofs for the immortality of the soul with the beliefs of various religions (Mesopotamian, Egyptian, Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism) Use specific references to the beliefs of at least three (3) different religions in your discussion. • The research paper assignment consists of a 7-10 page research paper documenting the results of the student’s research on one of the topics provided. Students will need to cite at least 4 separate sources in addition to the course textbook in their research bibiliography. Students are free to use any variety of valid internet sources, but must include at least 2 scholarly, academic sources obtained through a library or affiliated databases of academic journals.
